Jacopo Ligozzi


(Verona 1547 – 1627 Florence / Firenze) Two brown handled vases with bouquets of flowers, oil on canvas, 50 x 62 cm, framed

Provenance: European private collection Jacopo Ligozzi was born into a family of tapestry painters and artisans active at the courts of Innsbruck and Trento. In 1577, at the age of 30, he went to Florence, where he worked at the Medici court, producing botanical and zoological illustrations. Many of these sheets are now preserved in the Uffizi’s Gabinetto dei Disegni e Stampe. They used to serve as models for such painters as Gerolamo Pini and Giovanna Garzoni.
